Your GICs, in your name, all in one place.

Choose a term from a Canadian bank, apply online, with your advisor or with our help, and watch every GIC you own from one screen. The money goes to the bank. The GIC stays in your name.

Your deposit never passes through us.

Why EasyGIC

A GIC is simple. Buying one from more than one bank should be too.

Today each bank means its own forms, its own identity check and its own login. EasyGIC does that once, and keeps the GIC where it belongs: at the bank, in your name.

It is yours, at the bank.

The bank issues your GIC and holds your deposit. Your name is on it, not ours and not a pooled account's. The bank pays the interest, directly.

One application, not one per bank.

Verify who you are once, sign online, and buy from any bank on the platform without starting over. Your documents and notices stay with each GIC.

Nothing sneaks up on you.

You are told before each GIC matures, and you decide what happens next: pay out, renew or move it.

How it works

Three steps to your GIC. We stay with you after.

  1. Pick a term

Compare what the banks on the platform offer in your province and choose the term that fits your plans. An advisor can suggest one or start the purchase for you, and we are here if you do not have one.

The rate is fixed when you submit. If it changed while you were looking, we tell you before you commit.

  2. Apply and sign online

Confirm your details, verify your identity and sign the application from your phone or computer. Nothing is sent to the bank until you have signed.

First time only: identity check, screening and your account documents. After that, a new GIC is a few minutes.

  3. Fund it at the bank

The bank accepts your application and tells you where to send the money. Once it arrives, your GIC is active and you can see it here.

Change your mind before the money arrives? Cancel at no cost.

When it matures

You hear from us before the bank needs an answer.

Set what should happen at maturity whenever you like. If you set nothing, the GIC pays out to you.

  1. 3 weeks beforeFirst notice. Your instruction is shown, and you can change it.
  2. 5 days beforeSecond notice, in case you missed the first.
  3. Maturity dayThe bank pays out, renews or transfers, as you asked. The renewed GIC appears beside the old one.
  4. Any timeNeed the money sooner? If the product allows it, ask through EasyGIC and the bank answers. Any fee is the one printed on the product and shown to you clearly before you buy, never a surprise.

Common questions

What people ask before their first GIC.

Does my money go to EasyGIC?

No. You pay the bank directly, and the bank holds your deposit for the whole term. EasyGIC never receives, holds or moves your money.

Who pays me the interest?

The bank that issued the GIC, on the schedule for that product. What you see on EasyGIC before the bank has paid is a projection, and it is labelled as one.

Do I need an advisor?

No. If you have one, your advisor can start a purchase for you and you approve it before anything is signed. If you do not, no problem: we will assist you with all your GIC needs.

What do I need to apply?

A piece of government photo ID, a few minutes for the identity check, and the bank account you will fund the GIC from. You do this once, before your first purchase.

Can I get my money out early?

It depends on the GIC. Some can be cashed before maturity after a waiting period, some cannot. The product says which, and any fee is the one printed on it. The bank decides and we record the outcome.

Which accounts can I use?

Tax-free savings, retirement savings and non-registered accounts, among others. Where the account type allows it, you can name beneficiaries when you open it.
